I get a real kick out of our differences

Like red and blue

Blending together to make a beautiful purple

Over and over spilling forth our mutual beauty for the world to see

Differences don't have to mean separation

I believe we really can Rodney King it,"Can't we all just get along?"

No need for this mantra to come from abuse and injustice

But if it does, let's move forward to change the world, to walk in unity and respect

Yeah, idealistic I know, 

But I believe it should be reality

Hate is never ended with hate

No, understanding and love move us forward

My heart breaks

I truly hate the privilege I was born into

But that is outside of my control

What is in my control is using that privilege for good, for positive change

So let them look at us and wonder

Yes, let them marvel at how two people from polar worlds can come together like this

How each can inspire positivity and ambition in their distinct communities

Let them grab ahold of this spark and burn with drive and passion too

Let fires of unity burn brightly
